Children's Ministry

Director: Ashley Mitchell

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs.” -Matthew 19:14

Children are a blessing from God and are a very important part of the Zebulon United Methodist Church Family. We value children and their relationship with God and seek to provide a welcoming and nurturing community where all children can grow spiritually. We are currently using the Kids-Own-Worship and Faithweaver Friends and Faithweaver Now curriculum's for our various programs! We welcome all children to join us for Sunday School and Children’s Church as well as the many other activities held throughout the year. If you have any questions about the Children’s Ministry, the information provided on this page, or the pages they link to, contact Ashley Mitchell, Director of Children’s Ministry.

First time Visitor? If you are unsure where to go and it’s your first visit, I would be happy to meet with you prior to the service to show you around! Also, if you follow the outside signs from the parking lot, you will see the side entrance to our Sanctuary. When you enter from the side, you can see a set of stairs that will lead you and your family downstairs to the nursery and the Sunday School/Children’s Church classroom. The sanctuary is right through the Narthex.

Understanding that safety is a first priority for our church and your children, we will ask first time visitors to complete a small information sheet about you and your child, including contact information and allergies. All classrooms are locked from the outside and can only be entered from the upstairs entrances. All children must be signed out by a parent prior to leaving the classroom at the end of service. The nursery and Sunday School teachers also keep a Walkie-Talkie in the classrooms during service for added safety measures.

We have the following programs available for all children:

· Ages newborn to 2: Nursery is offered from 9:00 am -12:00 pm, as well as from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm during our Wednesday night program.

· Ages 3- 5th Grade: All classes are taught downstairs in the Junior K Classroom at the end of the hallway

o Sunday School: 10:00 am – 10: 45 am

o Children’s Church: During the 11:00 am worship service, children will go downstairs with their teacher after the Children’s Moment and will remain downstairs through the rest of service until picked up by a parent.

o ZUM Wednesday: from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday nights. Wednesday evening activities for children and families of all ages run from Labor Day to Memorial Day. ZUM Wednesday activities include:

§ 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm: Dinner. Check our Facebook page for the menu or to see if it’s a pot luck week!

§ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm - Children's Choir. Children will learn to sing and use instruments downstairs in the choir room. They will perform periodically throughout the year during the Sunday worship services.

§ 7:00 pm - 8:00pm – ZUM Wednesday Bible Study. The Children's Bible Study and Recreation will be in the Jr. K classroom located downstairs using the Faithweaver Friends curriculum that coordinates with the youth and parents' Bible study. This curriculum also coordinates with their Sunday School and Children's Church curriculum to reinforce understanding of Bible lessons.
